Joe Bataan is one of a small group of performers that transcends stereo types. His musical legacy spans more than four decades.
Known as the” King of Latin-Soul”, this Hall of Famer still continues to captivate audiences all over the world.
His recent induction into the Smithsonian Institute and the unveiling of his portrait in The National Portrait Gallery in Washington, DC in October 2013 is a testimonial to his enduring legacy. He was inducted into this venerated institution’s list of legendary artists who are considered to be American Treasures.
Joe is highly decorated and revered by a multi-cultural audience around the world. He has recorded 23 albums since 1967, when he had a hit with “Gypsy Woman” on Fania records. He fused Latin-African beats with Soul and Doo Wop to create the sound known as Latin Soul.
